THE FALL AND THE LAW

The Fall of man came about from believing a lie, the lie that we could be like God. The deception was so deep God gave the Commandments to awaken us that we might discover another spirit had moved in (Ephesians 2:2). It’s as if He’s saying, “Oh, so you think you can be like me”? Well, how bout you start by doing these ten things? God never once thought man could “keep” these commands but man had to come to see this for himself.

The real reason for giving the Law was to kill us, “the letter kills”, it’s a “ministry of death” (2 Corinthians 3:6-7). We had to die to our union with the “spirit of error” (1 John 4:6). The Law’s purpose is to “shut our mouths”, “hold us accountable to God” and give us “the knowledge of sin” (Romans 3:19-20). The Law is a “schoolmaster to lead us to Christ” (Galatians 3:24). “The Law is holy, righteous and good” (Romans 7:12) but it can’t save us! Only Jesus Christ through His death, burial and resurrection can save us! We can’t fix the old man, he has to be crucified, buried and raised to new life in Christ (Romans 6:3-11; Galatians 2:20). Once that happens the Law has served its purpose and we walk in the Spirit by faith. We no longer trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead (2 Corinthians 1:9). We finally come to see “it’s no longer I who live but Christ.”

He is the life!

Christ is your very life (Colossians 3:4).
