When two people get married, they are, at that very moment, as married as they will ever be. If they are married for 75 years they are as married on their wedding day as they are on their 75th anniversary. The days, months and years do not make them “More” married.

When a butterfly emerges from a cocoon, it is completely a butterfly. No matter how many days it lives it doesn’t become any more of a butterfly than on that first day it left the cocoon.

When it comes to marriage or butterflies we seem to get it but when it comes to being the new creature God has made us to be in Christ, we seem to miss it. On the day you are born-again you are right then and there a new creature in Christ. You don’t become the new creature over time as the days, weeks and years go by, you are right then a brand new creature in Christ and all old things have gone!

Being a new creature, like in marriage, we don’t become more married or more saved but what we do is set out to discover what it means to be married or what it means to be the new creature we are in Him. You see, it’s a life of mystery, learning, seeking and discovery. And that’s exactly how God wants it.

“It is the glory of God to conceal a matter,
But the glory of kings is to search out a matter”
(Proverbs 25:2).

    1. Thanks Nick. It seems many believe God is still “working” on them. Sanctification seems to be a hot button issue. Are we sanctified or are we “being” sanctified? Is it a one time thing or a process?
