God is love not has love. God commands us to love one another and yet He “IS” love. How can “we” love others? Well, I guess God can give us love for others. I suppose He hands it out in little packets. No, that’s not going to work either because God “IS” love. It’s not as though He “has” love He gives us so we can then turn around and love others with that love, no. The truth is this God, who “IS” love, must move into us by way of His Spirit, then we simply let Him love others as us.
Jesus understood this and said, “The words that I say to you I do not speak on My own initiative, but the Father abiding in Me does His works” (John 14:10).
So, in the same way, Jesus may as well have said, “The love you see coming through me is really the Father, who IS love, loving others by Me.”
You see, Jesus is the Vine and we are the branch but it’s still His fruit not ours! The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace… Do you see it now? The Holy Spirit is the only one who produces love and manifest that same love in, through and as us the believer.
