No amount of religious observances, traditions or practices can change a person. This is why we need Jesus. According to the Scriptures, “we all are by nature children of wrath” (Ephesians 2:3). It is our nature to be in rebellion with God (Colossians 1:21). If it’s our nature to be in rebellion and living in the flesh, apart from divine intervention, we simply cannot please God (Romans 8:7-8).

The “Good News” though is, God offers us an opportunity to be born-again! We can be born from above, born of Him. According to 2 Peter 1:3-4, by His precious and magnificent promises we can become partakers of His Divine nature. Did you catch that? Even though we start out in life with a nature in rebellion to God and deserving wrath, God Himself offers us a new nature. This is what it means to become a “New Creature” in Christ. Once that happens the warfare between us and God is over and we’re on the same page again.

“He that is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him”
(1 Corinthians 6:17).

So, when a Christian, one who is joined to Christ, commits sin it is UN-natural. Sin is no longer part of their nature and that’s why you no longer like to sin and it bothers you to do so. We have a brand new nature in Him!
