  1. This has always been a challenging passage. It seems incongruous to curse a fig tree when it is not even the season for figs. But yours strikes the note that it is more that the fig tree reminds Jesus of the Fall and the curse. In that sense, we, when lost, were all the worse off, not able to bear fruit at all. At least the poor fig tree has its season in nature of bearing figs, but lost man is figless, and the hope he has of bearing his own fruit a figment. This “installment” is one to ponder.
