1. Hey Louie,
I really enjoy your message! I agree with what you said about telling people about the person of Christ, instead of giving them a lot of doctrine. Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God, but as we hear the word of God, our faith directs us to a Person (Christ) and the work he has accomplished on our behalf. You chose a great selection of scriptures: 1 Corinthians 1:30, 3:16, 6:17, 2 Corinthians 5:17, 5:21, Colossians 1:21, 2:10, and others. As you said, Christ is our, wisdom, righteousness, sanctification and redemption. Those attributes are not something God gives to us if we pray hard enough. It is what he has given us in Christ, because we are joined to him.

You also talked about how the prison system tries to reform or rehabilitate offenders. I know firsthand that you spoke correctly when you said, the programs offered in the jails and prisons may help to some degree but the real answer is Christ. The real answer is letting people know that Jesus died for their sins, was buried, and rose again the third day according to scripture (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). And when they trust Christ, they are sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise until the day of redemption (Ephesians 1:13). The scriptures you quoted are confirmation of who they are in Christ when they believe.

    1. Thank you Arnita, those are great words of wisdom. Sometimes I think we need to remember to point others back to the “simplicity found in Christ.”

thanks again, it’s good to hear from you.
