THE IMAGE OF THE INVISIBLE GOD

According to Colossians 1:15, Jesus Christ is the image of the invisible God. God in the flesh! Did you ever think about the real reason Jesus was crucified? I know some will say because he claimed to be God which brought the charge of blasphemy and others will say for insurrection for claiming to be a rival king, but the real reason is because he revealed the true heart and mind of God to the world.

The misunderstanding about God’s character, introduced in the Garden of Eden, was so ingrained into humanity when Jesus revealed the true nature of who he was they crucified him. Think about this for a minute. Most of the accusations against Jesus came after he had helped or healed someone. In John 10 he asks them “Many good works have I showed you from my Father; for which of those works do you stone me?”

The father of lies has done a pretty good job of keeping us blind over the centuries in fact that is one of his greatest weapons. 2 Corinthians 4 tells us “The god of this world has blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God should shine unto them.” The good news is once we really start to search for him God will grant us eyes to see. Once our eyes are opened to the truth we won’t have to fall for the enemy’s deception anymore. The really good news is once our sight is regained we get to participate in spreading the message of who Jesus Christ really is so others might receive their sight as well.
