When someone gets the flu, a cold or any other ailment that requires a doctor visit they will usually send them home with a prescription. Did you know there is a prescription given in the Bible for overcoming the accuser? It’s found in Revelation 12:11 it says, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.”

Of course the “blood of the Lamb” part is another way of saying we must be born again. This harkens back to the Passover in Egypt when the Children of Israel placed the blood of a lamb on their doorposts and the destroyer passed over them. This was only a shadow of the real thing that took place on the cross where Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, took away our sin. In both instances the blood has to be applied.

The second part of our prescription is our testimony. When you tell others your testimony it not only gives others hope for their own life to be changed it strengthens your own faith in the process. The truth is whenever you remember and share what God has done in your life with others it refreshes everyone listening and builds up any weak spots in your armor. It reinforces your confidence in God to see you through whatever battles you may be having.

When it comes to “loving not their lives unto death” that’s a tough one. When the enemy starts throwing his accusations around it tempts us to look at ourselves and defend ourselves. Sometimes we might start justifying ourselves and that may lead to blaming others. If we start trying to shift blame, we not only end up being defeated, but we will actually find ourselves fighting with, instead of against, the enemy. When the accusations start flying our defense is to see ourselves as already dead. We have been crucified with Christ and it is no longer we that live but Christ lives in us.

In conclusion if we are going to have victory over the accuser we have to be saved by the blood of the Lamb, share our testimony and always remember our lives are in the Lord’s hands. If we do end up dying for Christ what kind of threat is heaven? After all, if you are a believer in Christ you have a home in glory that is only one heart beat away. Like the song says, “we are winners either way if we go or if we stay!”
