Have you ever known someone that was upset with you? There may have been a disagreement or feelings hurt and even though you have forgiven and moved on they haven’t. Now even though you carry no hard feelings or ill will toward them they simply can’t stand to be around you. This is sort of what it’s like between us and God.
The Bible tells us that “God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.” You see Jesus Christ took the wrath we deserved upon himself in order for us to be set free. God is not mad at us. He loves us and is inviting us to come to him.
All of the uncomfortable feelings and thoughts aren’t coming from God to us; they are in fact all on our side. He isn’t the one with the problem we are. In fact the problem isn’t even sin it results from the fact we either haven’t heard the good news or haven’t placed our faith in Christ and his work on the cross. The scriptures tell us God has already made peace “And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled in the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight.”
God has done all that can be done by way of Christ and the cross. Even the enemy himself knows God has reconciled us in Christ but he still accuses us. All this means is his accusations are false but what else would we expect from the father of lies? So we have a choice: are we going to believe God or a liar?
So here is my appeal to you–Be reconciled to God!!
