I once heard that matter was only spirit slowed down. What a thing to say huh? I mean how does someone come up with that? What gives a person the idea that matter is really spirit slowed down? Upon a little investigation I have come to think there may be something to this idea. If you think about it, science proves that everything is made of microscopic moving parts. If you look at anything with enough magnification you’ll discover while it may be dense it isn’t solid. Actually it is made up of hundreds of millions of atoms full of hundreds of millions of electrons with electrical charges that creates mass. I more than likely messed that up, but I am obviously not qualified to speak of such scientific equations. What I have written here is primarily my ponderings of God and his creation that I wanted to share with you. I hope you can follow my train of thought even though it may take you through some strange twists along the way. I pray that upon arriving at the end of this you will have been enlightened or at least challenged to think about these things.

With all that being said, I think we would all agree that God is only good and there is no evil in him, correct? We also believe this all good God is the one that created everything and even said, “It is good”, right? If we start with that we also know that this world or creation has both good and evil in it; so somehow God’s “Good” creation was corrupted bringing forth a duality of good and evil.

According to the scriptures there was a rebellion in Heaven and a war among the angels resulting in the removal of a third of them from their first abode. I am going to say the earth is where they were removed to even though we don’t have a verse specifically telling us this. This I think is proven by the very presence of evil in God’s good creation. So come along with me and my thoughts for a minute and see if this makes sense to you.

I know some will say Adam is responsible and that is true to an extent, but how did the “Tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil appear on the Earth in the first place?” In Romans 8 we read “For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now.” Let me just say, Evil was present in the Garden when Adam arrived on the scene, and God has no evil in him therefore it’s only logical to conclude evil must have come from the fallen angelic realm.

These fallen Angels spoiled the earth with their presence and it is my belief that God created all of this we see, in order to perform a recovery mission. It’s as if he slowed things down in order to deal with the evil that had been brought forth from the rebellious angelic realm. If he had let the mixture of good and evil continue, it would have eventually corrupted everything in its path, ending with nothing but pure evil. By slowing the process down the material creation now becomes a place where redemption is possible.

I know this may sound strange to some but thinking about these types of things is how I choose to spend my time. When Jesus was asked once “What is the greatest command?” He responded “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” Loving God with all your mind tends to get overlooked sometimes. While you may think what I’m talking about here doesn’t fit with loving God with all your mind; I believe thinking great thoughts are a somewhat neglected part of worship. God has given us great capacity to understand many, many things, and if we spend all of our lives without using it we’re missing a big part of what he has gifted us with.

Let me end with a quote from William Law talking about this very thing. Could this really be the reason that old devil doesn’t like us? Could we, human beings, really be that old rebel Lucifer’s replacement? Law wrote “Now, the Good and Evil that is in this world is that same Good and Evil, and in the same strife that it was in the kingdom of the fallen angels, only with this happy difference, there it was under the devil’s power, and in a way to be wholly evil; here it is in a new compacted, or created state under the providence and blessing of God, appointed to bring forth a new kind of life, and display the wonders of divine love, till such time as a new race of angelical creatures born in this mixture of Good and Evil, shall be fit to receive the kingdom of Lucifer, restored to its first Glory?” (An excerpt taken from “An appeal to all who doubt the truths of the gospel” by William Law)

  1. may you be rooted deep in love and securely on love that you may really come to know by experience the love of christ which far exceeds head knowledge

    1. You are exactly right Kenneth. I believe it is the love of Christ that grants us “revelation” knowledge by way of the Mind of Christ. I think it is too cool that he wants us to “Know” those things that are freely given to us. As I said in the post I am not qualified to speak on a lot of things, but I am simply using this blog as a format for pondering and meditating upon the things of God.
Thank you so much for your input.

  2. Louie, Norman use to say that everything is made up of light… trapped light! So what is light? God is Light & in Him is no darkness. Isn’t it good to know He has it all under control?

    1. Amen Donald! I remember talking to a guy in prison once. He told me he watched something on the Discovery Channel about this very thing. He said these scientists had isolated blood and came to the conclusion it was basically made up of light. Wow! Need I say more?
      Thanks so much Donald,

    1. My mind has officially been blown thinking about the idea that God has, in a sense, quarantined or “slowed down” the material in order to deal with evil once and for all. What a loving, wise and patient God we have.
      thanks B.
